I grew up in San Diego, CA and started a punk band in sixth grade after watching MxPx play a show at my church. Since then music has been a large part of my life. I spent the next several years playing and going to punk and hardcore shows (usually with my mom as the chauffeur/tour manager). I started a metal band called As I Lay Dying in high school that ended up getting pretty popular after I quit. The day after I graduated, the emo band I joined, Noise Ratchet, left for a three month tour. That band went on to tour very heavily for the next three years and even signed to Rick Rubin's label before disbanding. After that I spent about a year writing songs that sounded like Oasis and I took a creative writing course (I learned that I'm better at non-fiction). Finally, my friends and I started Delta Spirit. Touring and making music with Delta Spirit has been one of the great joys of my life and I've spent a large part of the last ten years doing just that.
